Joint Statement For Japan - Taiwan High School Students Summit

Through the discussions in this summit, we found out that even though we have different backgrounds, we can build friendships with each other, since we have many things in common. For example, we laugh at the same funny things.

In order to fill in the gaps, we can’t just sit back and be silent. A sweet smile and saying hello can start the friendship. With a conversation, we can comprehend each other’s cultures better. We understand the importance of direct dialogue and communication.

We hope to take this exchange as an opportunity, and look forward to working with partners and friends from all over the world to make contributions to society.

The summit this time was only two hours long, but the students were quick to use English to connect with each other, and at the end of the program, they took a memorial photograph, exchanged souvenirs and strengthened friendships.
Many of the students also exchanged contact details, and promised to see each other again, during their school trips to Taiwan.

Questionnaires filled out by students of both countries revealed a high level of satisfaction with the event, and the Metropolitan Board of Education has decided to continue holding such events to promote international cultural exchange.
